Good News Back from the Field!

Maud, Texas: James Sutton, one of the elders of the Maud Church of Christ in Maud, Texas, called us to say that House to House is reaching into the homes in their area. People in the area are searching for God and His truth. Brother Sutton said, "One lady recently came to services because of the newsletter. She has been looking for biblical truth and came to Maud church to learn more."

Salt Rock, West Virginia: David Templeton from the Merritts Creek Church of Christ in Salt Rock, West Virginia, called us a few weeks ago. They had planned to do just the big Sep/Oct 16 issue, but after a certain phone call, they have decided to stay in for good! According to brother Templeton, the caller said the main article was "the best sermon I've ever heard!"

New Port City, Florida: Chris Steele from the River Road Church of Christ in New Port City, Florida, called us with an encouraging message. He said their congregation had four visitors at services from their first mail out!

Summerville, Georgia: Alan Campbell from the Subligna Road Church of Christ in Summerville, Georgia, emailed us this note: "I just wanted to send a quick note to say thank you for 'Things My Dad Taught Me.' I have just read it again, and I can certainly relate to so much of it, though thankfully, my dad is still with us. Thank you (all of you; please pass it on) for another great HTH issue and recently added pamphlets, booklets, bookmarks, and website content. Keep up the good work and God bless it to His name's honor and glory."

House to House in French: House to House is now regularly printed in English, Spanish, Chinese, and French. Our most recent French issue is scheduled to go to nine congregations in Benin, France, Guadeloupe, Haiti, Senegal, and Switzerland. It will also be direct-mailed into every French-speaking home in Nashville and Davidson County, Tennessee.

What Else Can House to House Do for Your Congregation?

New Movers Program: For participating in House to House, we give you the opportunity to reach anyone that moves into your community in a special way. For any issue of House to House that you participate in, anyone that moves into the routes you are covering will receive an introductory issue of House to House that is focused on the basics of the Lord's church, followed a couple of weeks later by a postcard. You should be able to reach them twice before anyone else in the area even knows they are there. We can also share the addresses with you, so that you can follow up with them, mail them something else, or knock on their door. The cost is just $5 per month, and $1 per address. There are usually just a few of these, but they seem to be really good soil since they are new to the area and often looking for a church to attend.

Free Website: For participating in House to House, we are offering you a free website. We will build it for free, we'll host it for free, and we'll maintain it for free. A lot of people in the community will research a church online before they visit, so having a website is very important. Just for working with us on this, you can have it for free for a year. After one year, you can have it free for another year if you print again, or maintain it for just $15 per month if you don't print. If you stop printing and don't want to keep the website, just cancel it. Here is an example website that we built. It's very simple right now, but this will give you an idea of what we can do.

HTH 2017 Featured Articles

This year we will emphasize three approaches to evangelism: apologetic, doctrinal, and "positive" Christianity (Acts 2:47).

In a world quickly becoming secular, it is important to build faith in God, the deity of Christ, and the inspiration of Scripture (Philippians 1:17).

In a world confused by false religion, it is valuable to clearly present the truth about Christianity, the church, the plan of salvation, and acceptable worship (2 Timothy 4:2).

In a world where many view religion with skepticism and cynicism, it is helpful to highlight positive aspects of Christianity such as hope, joy, love, and forgiveness (John 10:10).

To accomplish these aims, we selected the following themes:

January/February • I’m Looking for a Church That Is Not So Negative

March/April • Rescued from Hell in a Philippian Jail. The Midnight Conversion of a Suicidal Jailer

May/June • The Twenty-Two Most Important Words Ever Spoken on Marriage

July/August • What Jesus Told Me to Tell You (1 Corinthians 15:1–4; Romans 6:3–5).

September/October • Why Does God Allow Suffering?

November/December • Heaven Will Surely Be Worth It All
