GOOD NEWS BACK FROM THE FIELD!
51 Bible Study Requests! We have received 51 requests for Bible studies since our last issue and have passed those along to HTH congregations. Year-to-date studies: 459
Baptist Minister in Knoxville, Tennessee: Bill Bryant preaches for the Wooddale church of Christ in Knoxville. Bill had a pretty incredible response from their recent mailings.
An older man came to visit. Bill asked how he heard about them. He replied, "House to House Heart to Heart." This man said that he had recently retired and was excited to finally get the chance to visit. What did he retire from? He was a preacher at a large "conservative" Baptist congregation. He has only missed one Sunday since he started visiting with Wooddale several Sundays ago. Yesterday he asked Bill what he needed to do to place membership. Bill says they have a little more teaching to do (obviously on the plan of salvation), but the congregation is very excited. Let's take some time to pray that this man is reached, and that he can help influence others.
Conversion in Knoxville, Tennessee: Eric Bonner preaches at the McDonald Drive in Knoxville. He texted, "We got six high quality leads (from the mailings). One has resulted in a baptism, and the man who was converted is now bringing his brother."
Conversion in Indianapolis, Indiana: Ben Vick, Jr., preaches for the Shelbyville Road church of Christ in Indianapolis, Indiana. They did House to House for awhile, and were mailing to 4800 homes. They decided to stop a few issues ago because of cost, but we suggested they do one final issue and run the "Last Issue" ad on their back page for anyone that wanted to keep getting it. They did that and had a dozen people send in the coupon, and we added them to our mailing list. That's great enough, but it also prompted one man to visit their services. Ben emailed us this:
"You may have heard that we had a baptism due to House to House initial contact with a man. He and I had three study sessions, and he was baptized last Friday."
Festival Outreach in Columbiana, Alabama: David Bass with the Lay Lake church of Christ in Columbiana, Alabama, recently used House to House in a unique way. They set up a table for an annual festival like most of us have in our area. They handed out free water, did Kids' crafts/activities that related Bible verses to the festival's theme ("Liberty"), and put out HTH and tracts (not too many as to overwhelm). They also bought an HTH banner to put on the front of the table. They said that a lot of people came up and talked to them when they recognized it ("We get that paper!", etc.) It's a good reminder to get out into our communities and talk to the people were are reaching with House to House.
House to House Heart to Heart is now a monthly publication!
